“I had the great pleasure of working with Sherwood both in the Greenville Symphony and at First Baptist Church,” Tompkins said. Mobley, who died early this year, also was a longtime member of First Baptist Church. The program spotlights not only organ but percussion in remembrance of Mobley’s long tenure as principal timpanist of the Greenville Symphony.
